Cindy Smith is the founder of Living Hope Transitional Home. After volunteering and working with homeless women and women in transition, Cindy saw a need to offer a home with a secure environment, to help women transitioning from uncertain futures to secure, independent places in their lives. Cindy's background includes reaching out to domestic violence and rape victims and children (through child abuse prevention programs in local schools) at Women Helping Women for five years. Through these experiences she saw the needs of hurting women and children. She then coordinated a homeless ministry in her church for three years. It was there that she experienced more closely how the trauma these women had survived affected the choices they were making for their lives. Cindy has most recently worked at Bethany House, a homeless shelter for women and children, and Having the Courage to Change, a transitional home for women --a ministry of City Gospel Mission. At these homes she witnessed first-hand that some of these women lacked the support in their lives before coming to these homes that could help them live independently. Cindy's experiences of ministering to women through Bible studies and retreats has shown her how women can grow in their faith with these support tools in place and what a difference this can make in their lives. Living Hope Transitional Home is always looking for volunteers to aid these women in transition. For more information, call (513)598-6333 or visit their website: www.lhth.org

As the Lord said to Moses, "So now, go. I am sending you to the Pharoah to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt." But Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharoah and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?" And God said, "I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain." Exodus 3:10-12

God has called each one of  us to serve in his name. Please prayerfully consider becoming a member of one of the advisory teams. Each group is always looking for fresh ideas and suggestions. Viki and David Swope lead this group of creative youth using puppets to convey a Christian message. We perform for children's time on the third Sunday every other month during the 10:30am worship service. With puppets, dialogue and music, we teach the word of the Lord in a unique way.

Our original aim was to reach the children using the puppets to get their attention. We have found that our biggest fans are the adults and we have received tremendous support in this ministry. I guess there really is a child in all of us.

The Sunday worship service  at OHUMC is a combination of contempory and traditional styles of worship. We have LaRue Janson and Cindy Lanning who play keyboard and piano during the service. We also have two musical groups that help lead praise and worship. Resurrection is our band that plays weekly to support our worship experience. Good News is a musical group that leads us in special music on the first Sunday of each month. Additionally, we have many musical soloists of all ages throughout the year.

Good News

Tom Morenz is the lead singer and plays guitar as Good News helps Oak Hill United Methodist Church worship through music on the first Sunday of each month.

Vocalists include LaRue and Glen Janson and Mike Kleimeyer. Tom is often accompanied by Mike on his saxophone. Good News uses their musical talents as an outreach to many in the community.

Jesuspalooza Music Festival

This annual Christian music festival is the brain child of Bob Schloss. Wonderful Christian music of all styles can be heard on the corner of Bridgetown and Ebenezer Roads. This year's festival will take place on Saturday July 14, 2007. So mark your calendar, it's a wonderful time of praise music.

Resurrection Worship Team

Resurrection provides praise and worshsip music for the Sunday morning service. Lead by Karen Fruedemann, Resurrection has been playing together for 5 years and gives the Sunday morning service a  wonderful contemporary flavor. The female vocalists, Karen Fruedemann, Kris Smith and Kathy Walker are sisters.

Pastor Paul Cocklin and his son, Dave Cocklin play guitar while Ray Walker plays bass guitar and Chris Fruedemann is on the drums. Uplifting praise songs can be heard every Sunday morning. Dave Cocklin wrote a Christmas rock opera that was performed with the puppet ministry on Christmas Eve 2006.
